Discover the ochre landscapes west of Albufeira on this horseback ride through Lagoa dos Salgados. A scenic route along trails surrounded by stunning Algarve nature!
We’ll kick off this experience by picking you up from your hotel in Albufeira. Once everyone’s ready, we’ll hop in a minibus and head west toward Valle de Parra, a peaceful corner of the Algarve where time seems to move a little slower.
After a short journey of about 10 kilometers (6 miles), we’ll arrive and get ready for a 1.5-hour horseback ride. We’ll head over to the stables to meet our noble companions for the adventure and put on our helmets. We’ll go over the basics so you can ride safely, or, if you’ve ridden before, we’ll help you fine-tune your posture before setting off along the trails.
We’ll ride along sandy paths and clay ground, where the Algarve’s geology reveals itself in gentle hills and warm ochre tones. Around us, you’ll see Mediterranean scrubland, with reeds, rushes, and low vegetation growing around Lagoa dos Salgados. This wetland, home to birds and small wildlife, will accompany us throughout the ride.
From a few higher spots along the route, we’ll enjoy panoramic views of the lagoon, a natural mirror that changes color depending on the light. The salty breeze, the wide-open horizon, and the gentle rhythm of the horse will make for a wonderfully relaxing experience.
At the end of the horseback ride, we’ll head back to your hotel, where we’ll say goodbye about 2.5 hours after pickup.
