Venture into the Brazilian rainforest and discover the animals that live there on our 1 or 2-day Tapajós National Forest Tour. You'll immerse yourself in a beautiful natural environment and explore lakes and beaches.
Tapajós National Forest Tour
Once we've met up at 9 am at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão, we'll hop on our boat and start exploring the most breathtaking spots in the Tapajós National Forest. Let's go!
To begin, we'll pass by Jacundá and Mureta Lakes so you can take some fantastic photos. We'll then come to Pindobal Beach, where we'll pause so you can learn all about the history of rubber and its importance in the Amazon. Our journey will then continue to the beaches of Cajutuba, where you'll be able to take a dip before heading to the impressive dunes of Maguari.
Our next stop will be Jamaraquá, an area where you can spot sloths, alligators and hundred-year-old trees. In the middle of the lush greenery, we'll have a selection of fruits such as pineapple, watermelon and passion fruit. Afterwards, we'll visit the locals and learn about artwork crafted by Indigenous communities. If you wish, you can go on a hike to see the Samauma tree.
Feeling peckish yet? We'll have a lunch that'll include fish, chicken and some other tasty bites. Once you've eaten, you'll relax in a hammock and admire a beautiful sunset from a canoe on the river before returning to Alter do Chão for 7 pm.
2-day tour
On this tour, we'll go camping in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest after watching the sunset. Once we've seen the sunset, we'll sit around a campfire to eat a traditional piracaia dish. We'll then go to sleep under the stars, but you can also choose to sleep on the boat or in a typical hut.
When you wake up the next day, we'll have a tasty lunch and take one last dip at the dreamlike Pindobal Beach before heading back to Alter do Chão.
Accommodation
If you opt for the 2-day boat tour, you'll have 1 night's accommodation on the boat in double cabins with a private bathroom included. You can also opt to spend the night in a cabin in the Vista Alegre community. The latter option isn't included in the tour price.
