On this tour of the Belle Époque, we'll join you on a journey through time to the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century to discover the most opulent and emblematic buildings in Belém.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Belém and begin this tour of the Belle Époque. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, this city experienced such a strong cultural and commercial exchange with Europe that it was called the Tropical Belle Époque.
During the tour, we'll explore the most important places where European architecture was mixed with the heart of the Brazilian jungle. First, we'll see the Theatro da Paz. Inspired by Milan's La Scala, this is one of the most beautiful theaters in Brazil. Its frescoes, columns, and golden details reflect the immense wealth of the rubber barons.
Afterward, we'll see the Bolonha Mansion, an architectural gem built by the engineer Francisco Bolonha as a gift to his wife. It's an impressive example of the blend of styles that defines the local Belle Époque.
Lastly, we'll visit the São Brás Market, a historic building that combines iron structures that were brought from Europe with decorative details of this period—a testament to the city's commercial boom.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 3.5 hours.
