Welcome to one of Buenos Aires' most beloved neighborhoods! We'll begin our free tour of Belgrano at Plaza Manuel Belgrano.
First, we'll head to the former center of power to discover the origins of the old village of Belgrano. From the outside, we'll take in the Museo Histórico Sarmiento, an 1872 palace that once served as Belgrano's Municipal Palace. We'll then make our way to the Museo de Arte Español Larreta, a former neocolonial residence that belonged to writer Enrique Rodríguez Larreta and houses one of the largest collections of Spanish Golden Age art in the country. Its Andalusian garden is a highlight in itself.
Next, we'll stop at the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción, a Renaissance-style church inspired by the Gran Madre di Dio in Turin. As we admire its facade, we'll share some curiosities about "La Redonda." Did you know it's the only circular-plan church in Buenos Aires?
Our route continues to Parque Barrancas de Belgrano, one of the city's great green lungs, with walking paths, sculptures, and trees that invite you to slow down and escape the urban buzz. Here we'll see the Casa de Valentín Alsina from the outside, a mansion that once belonged to one of the most prominent governors of Buenos Aires province in the mid-19th century, and talk about how this neighborhood transformed from a marginal area into one of the city's wealthiest districts over the past century.
Finally, we'll pass through the eastern arch that marks the entrance to Buenos Aires' Chinatown, an exotic district within Belgrano. As we stroll through, we'll learn about the history of the first Asian immigrants to arrive in the Argentine capital.
We'll wrap up the tour after 2.5 hours in the area around Chinatown.
