On this Rocky Mountains day trip, you'll explore forest trails and streams by quad or buggy while discovering Alberta's geology and wildlife. An adventure in the wildest heart of Canada!
Day Trip Details
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Calgary in a minibus and head west, leaving the urban landscape behind to enter the eastern foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
During the journey, we'll cross wide prairies and coniferous forests where lodgepole pine, subalpine fir, and trembling aspen predominate. With a little luck, we'll be able to spot typical Alberta wildlife like mule deer, moose, and even the occasional coyote.
After approximately 1 hour of travel, we'll make a brief stop to rest before continuing to the area where the off-roading vehicles await us. Once there, after a total of 2 hours on the road, we'll explain the basic driving and safety rules before starting the route through the Rocky Mountains trails.
We'll begin the adventure through the slopes and valleys of the Rocky Mountains. We'll drive along forest roads, cross crystal-clear streams, and overcome stretches of mud and gravel while observing the region's characteristic geology. Did you know that many of these strata contain marine fossils that remind us this area was once covered by an ancient ocean?
During the route, we'll make several stops at natural viewpoints where we'll contemplate panoramic views of the boreal forests. Additionally, after completing 3 hours of the route, we'll stop to enjoy a picnic in the heart of nature with typical products, including Alberta bison.
Finally, we'll head back to your hotel in Calgary, where we'll say our goodbyes 11 hours after pickup.
