Visit Caracol Park in the Sierra Gaúcha
Just a few kilometers from the town of Canela, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, lies Caracol Park, one of the region’s most impressive natural areas. Waterfalls, forest trails, and lush Atlantic rainforest landscapes await.
When you arrive, you’ll receive a special “passport.” As you explore the park’s 10 different stops, you can collect a stamp at each one, a fun way to mark your journey through this unique setting.
The highlight of the park is Caracol Waterfall, which plunges 131 m (430 ft) into the valley below. From the panoramic observation deck, you’ll have fantastic views of the falls and the surrounding forest.
You can also follow scenic trails through the Atlantic Forest, breathe in the fresh air, and visit the Forest of the Xaxins, home to a wide variety of native plants and towering tree ferns. At the Butterfly Corner, you’ll find a colorful and peaceful space dedicated to these delicate creatures.
Families will appreciate the Serelepe Playground, a safe and cheerful area designed especially for children. And if you get hungry, the Sabor & Flor restaurant is a great place to take a break and enjoy dishes prepared over a wood-fired stove.
For those who enjoy staying active, the park also offers beach tennis, volleyball, and football courts, making it a great destination for visitors of all ages.
