With your ticket to the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, you'll gain direct access to a natural sanctuary just 10 km (6.2 mi) from the city center. Welcome!
Upon entering, you’ll discover pavilions designed for nursery care, sleeping quarters, and indoor and outdoor areas with abundant vegetation for adult pandas. You’ll also see feeding zones, the veterinary hospital, and the research laboratories. An entire world dedicated to pandas!
The base also features a modern museum with interactive exhibits and touchscreens explaining panda genetics, reproduction, and conservation. There's even a dome-shaped cinema that shows documentaries, perfect for immersing yourself in their natural history. Did you know that the base started in 1987 with only six rescued pandas? Today, it houses and cares for more than 200 pandas.
Arrive early to see the pandas at their most active, climbing, eating, rolling around, and playing with each other. It's a sight that will melt your heart! After midday, they mostly sleep, so mornings are the best time for action!
