Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the People’s Liberation Monument and from there head toward Bayi Road Market. Can you think of a better place to start our Chongqing food tour? Let’s go!
There, in this iconic spot adorned with shimmering neon lights, the aromas will surround us and awaken our appetite. We'll start pleasing our palates at a traditional stall, where we'll try chuan chuan and the classic marinated beef skewers, prepared using old family techniques.
Next, we'll continue to the famous streets of Jiaochangkou, a maze where red signs and the low houses of old Chongqing coexist with skyscrapers rising like guardians of the Yangtze River. This will be the perfect moment to taste the legendary hotpot noodles, wanzamian, and dumplings. Did you know the spicy noodles in this area are known for a chili oil infused for hours?
In the third stage of the route, we'll venture into some hidden residential alleys. These are places where life flows calmly and neighbors chat beneath hanging clotheslines. There, we'll try delicacies such as douhua tofu, mochi, and liangfen.
Finally, we'll head to the central district, where the steel of modern buildings contrasts with tiny kitchens. We'll wrap up the tour by tasting handcrafted sweets such as miancha, a sesame dessert that soothes the palate after Chongqing’s intense spice.
3 hours later, we'll bring the tour to an end by returning to the original meeting point.
