Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cuenca at the scheduled time to kick off this exciting day trip to Ingapirca, Gualaceo, and Chordeleg. Are you prepared to uncover Inca ruins and explore charming villages nestled in the heart of Ecuador?
Our journey through the Ecuadorian highlands will begin with breathtaking views along the way. After approximately an hour and 15 minutes, we'll reach Ingapirca, which stands as Ecuador's most significant Inca archaeological site. Here, we'll embark on a guided tour of the early 16th-century citadel and catch a glimpse of the revered Temple of the Sun.
We'll pause for a lunch break where you can enjoy lunch at any of the local restaurants nearby. Reenergized and ready to explore more, we'll set off for Gualaceo and Chordeleg, two renowned villages celebrated for their exquisite artisanal works.
In Chordeleg, we'll visit an artisan workshop where Ecuador's finest filigree is produced. Here, you'll enjoy a bit of free time to browse the shop and take home a souvenir.
The last stop on our journey brings us to a family workshop in Gualaceo. In this workshop, we'll enjoy the unique opportunity to see the process of weaving shawls and ponchos on antique looms. Did you know to give these textiles some color, the locals will use dyes extracted from regional plants?
After 9 full hours of culture and adventure, we'll bring you back to your hotel in Cuenca.
