This day trip to Tikal is ideal if you already have tickets to the archaeological site. Explore its temples, ceremonial complexes, and pyramids.
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Centroamerica Street and board the vehicle for a pleasant 1.5-hour drive to Tikal National Park—welcome to one of the most important cities of the Mayan civilisation!
During the tour, we'll enter the Petenera jungle, full of ceibas, corozo palms, heliconias, and copious tropical bushes. Along the way, we're likely to encounter toucans, coatis, macaws, and, if we are lucky, the typical black howlers of the region.
Of course, we'll arrive at the Main Plaza, the ceremonial heart of Tikal, surrounded by the Temple of the Great Jaguar and the Temple of the Masks. From there, we'll continue to the Lost World, an astronomical complex with pyramids oriented according to the solstices and which also had ceremonial purposes.
After a stop to get a bite to eat for lunch, we'll continue our visit in front of Temple IV, Tikal's tallest structure, which at 70 metres (229 feet) offers an unparalleled view over the jungle—the ideal place to watch the sunrise or sunset!
Lastly, we'll walk along its ancient roads while we tell you the details of a civilisation that mastered astronomy and hieroglyphic writing.
Finally, we'll return to the meeting point in Flores, where we'll say goodbye after an 8-hour tour.
