The Knossos Palace is the largest palace of the Minoan civilisation, with approximately 22,000 square metres (236,806 square feet), and the oldest in Crete, dating back to between the 18th and 12th centuries BC. Whether you're a history buff or a lover of Greek culture, a visit to this spectacular archaeological site is an absolute must in Heraklion.
With this ticket, you can walk among the ruins of this small citadel built by the Minoan people, which once consisted of a central courtyard and a complex that included the royal and servants' quarters, the administrative officials' quarters, the halls for worship and receptions, and the handicraft shops.
During your visit, you can enter the Throne Room of Knossos, a room decorated with frescoes, a stone throne and a basin where rituals in honour of the gods were performed. You'll pass through the central courtyard, the storerooms and the Queen's apartments, where you'll see the famous fresco of the dolphins. You'll also discover how the palace is connected to the legend of the Minotaur.
