Cirque du Soleil's latest production is coming to Honolulu! Auana is a Hawaiian word meaning "to take alternative paths", and reflects the goal embodied by the show: to guide audiences through the stories and cultural landscapes of Hawaii while fusing tradition with Cirque du Soleil's signature artistic flair.
Auana, which means to wander off the beaten path, features a talented ensemble of acrobats, musicians, comedians, and traditional hula dancers, led by Native Hawaiian creatives and acclaimed international artists. Combined with the signature acrobatics Cirque du Soleil is known for, this performance offers a cultural celebration that will stay with you forever.
Auana will take you on a journey through eight chapters, each telling a different Hawaiian story. From Polynesian migration to the "golden age of tourism", each act celebrates the spirituality and connection to the land of the Hawaiian people.
In addition, the acrobats will reach jaw-dropping heights as they perform an astonishing representation of the fiery power of Pele through breathtaking acrobatics in the Fire and Volcanoes act.
The 80-minute performance takes place at the Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, where the stage itself, decked out with rich colors, textures, and projections, is a vivid reflection of the islands' landscapes and culture.
