Between 8 and 8:40, we'll pick you up at your hotel, and at 9, we'll begin this guided tour of Ilhéus, a city famous for its beaches and its rich historical and cultural heritage.
Did you know that Ilhéus was a source of inspiration for the writer Jorge Amado? On this tour, we'll pass by some of the spots that appear in the works of the Brazilian playwright, such as the Vesúvio bar or the Bataclan cabaret, known for the romance of Amado Gabriela, Cravo e Canela.
We'll see the Cathedral of San Sebastian, stopping to admire its neoclassical facade and visiting Jorge Amado's House of Culture, where we'll learn about the life of the famous writer.
Our last stop will be at the mansion of Colonel Misael Tavares, known as the King of Cocoa. Outside, we'll tell you all the details about this character and the importance of cocoa in the region.
