Amazon & Ucayali 4-Day Luxury Cruise
The itinerary of your luxury cruise will vary depending on the time of year that you're joining us.
December to May
Day 1: Iquitos - Nauta
Once we've picked you up from the airport or your hotel, we'll take you to the Hilton Iquitos. You'll have lunch here before we take you to the city of Nauta, which is the starting point for our 4-day luxury cruise.
When we get to Nauta, the cruise staff will escort you to your suite and offer you a welcome cocktail. Later that evening, the guides will give an introductory talk about what you'll see during the trip, as well as providing information about the routes and life in the regions we'll visit. After the welcome dinner, the cruise will depart from Nauta along the Ucayali River.
Day 2: Yanallpa del Ucayali - Tapiche River - Dorado River
Good morning! On our second day, we'll wake up bright and early and take a boat trip to the natural area of Yanallpa del Ucayali in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. While we're here, we'll try to spot some of the local wildlife. Afterwards, we'll fuel up for the day with breakfast and go on a boat ride on the Tapiche River in search of more wildlife.
At lunchtime, we'll return to the cruise ship to watch a cooking demonstration by the chef. After lunch, we'll take the boat back to the Dorado River and try out some traditional fishing techniques. At nightfall, we'll enjoy a game-viewing activity during which we'll look for caimans, frogs, tarantulas and other nocturnal species before returning to the boat for dinner.
Day 3: Yarapa River - Amazon River - Huasi Community
After having breakfast, we'll hop back on the boat and explore the Yarapa River and its black water. Let's find out why the water is this colour! We'll even see some pink and grey dolphins swimming in the dark water. Next, we'll return to the ship to the spot where the Ucayali and Marañon Rivers meet and where the Amazon River begins.
We'll have lunch on board and then visit the Huasi community to learn about the villagers' customs and way of life. If we're lucky with the weather, you can even go swimming in the Tahuayo River. As we return to the boat you'll also be amazed by the different shades of a beautiful Amazonian sunset. In the evening, we'll see a live music show before dinner.
Day 4: Amazon Rescue Centre - Iquitos
On our last day, we'll have breakfast and disembark in Iquitos. A vehicle will be waiting here to take us to the Amazon Rescue Centre, which works to protect manatees. During our visit, we'll see how these animals are cared for. Afterwards, we'll take you to the airport for your return flight, or to the hotel you've booked in Iquitos.
June to November
Day 1: Iquitos - Nauta
We'll pick you up from the airport or your hotel and take you to lunch at the Hilton Iquitos before travelling to Nauta. In the evening, you'll have a welcome dinner and the ship will set sail.
Day 2: Ucayali River - Yucurichi - Bagazán Lake
Rise and shine! We'll have breakfast and then go on a hike in Yucuruchi, an area near the Ucayali River in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. We'll take the opportunity to spot some of the local wildlife before returning to the boat where a culinary demonstration by the chef awaits.
After lunch, you can have fun kayaking on the Ucayali River or exploring Lake Bagazán on a boat trip. In the evening we'll enjoy an Amazonian music show, and afterwards we'll have dinner and go out for a night game viewing - you might see caimans or lizards!
