Discover one of the natural jewels of the Peruvian Amazon with this Pacaya Samiria 3 or 4-Day Tour. Let yourself be surprised by its landscapes with this trip from Iquitos.
3-Day Tour
Day 1
After picking you up from the airport or your hotel in Iquitos, we'll drive to the port of Nauta. There, we'll board a speedboat and begin our journey down the Marañon River. During the trip, we'll see the famous pink dolphins that usually inhabit these waters. Then, we'll enjoy a delicious traditional lunch.
The trip will end at the shores of a campsite located in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Once we set up our tents, we'll get to know the rich ecosystem of the Huaylla Lagoon. Afterwards, we'll have dinner in the middle of nature and then go on a nocturnal trekking route - it's time to look for tarantulas, scorpions, and giant frogs!
The hike will end at the camp, where we'll rest until the next day.
Day 2
We'll get up early to watch the sunrise and try to spot the iguanas and sloths in the area. Afterwards, we'll return to the camp for breakfast. With our batteries well charged, we'll go up in a boat to navigate the Pucate River and observe various species such as monkeys, macaws, or toucans. We'll disembark in the middle of the jungle to camp and have a comforting lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll walk through the jungle towards a lake and learn how to use the medicinal plants! After dinner under the stars, we'll enjoy a night tour by canoe. Finally, we'll return to the camp to rest.
Day 3
On the final day, we'll wake up early and sail down the Yarapa River to see the otters that inhabit the area. The trip will conclude with a good breakfast and lunch in the camping area. We'll also learn some survival techniques.
Afterwards, we'll set out on a jungle hike, and then we'll leave you free time to take a dip in the river. Finally, we'll return to Nauta and from there to Iquitos, where arrival is scheduled at 6 pm.
4-Day Tour
Days 1, 2, and 3
If you want to extend your stay in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, you can choose the 4-day tour. In this case, for the first three days, you'll follow an itinerary similar to the one described above.
Day 4
On the fourth day, we'll wake up before dawn to watch the birds that call the reserve home. Afterwards, we'll have a delicious lunch, after which you'll have free time to explore the banks of the Pucate River at your leisure. Finally, we'll sail to Nauta, and from there, we'll return by road to your hotel in Iquitos, where we'll arrive at 6 pm. If you prefer, we can take you to the airport three hours before your flight departs.
Accommodation
Depending on the option you choose, the tour includes two or three nights in camps in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Accommodation will be in tents or tambos (refuges of Inca origin) located on the banks of the rivers and lagoons of the jungle. We'll provide you with complete camping equipment: mats, sleeping bags, folding tables and chairs, and a first aid kit.
Pickup
We can pick you up at your hotel in Iquitos or at the airport in the city, as long as you do not land later than 12 pm. After making your reservation, we'll contact you to arrange the exact time of your pickup.
