Are you familiar with the legend of the mount of the Eternal Fire? On this tour to the Fires of Yanartaş from Kemer, we'll discover this magical landmark - it'll be a sight that you'll never forget!
Yanartaş Eternal Flame Tour
At 4.30 pm, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Kemer and head towards the scenic town of Cirali while enjoying the views of other villages such as Kuzdere, Camyuva, and Tekirova.
Once in Cirali, we'll stop at its 3-kilometer (1.8 mile) beach, where you can take advantage of the last rays of sunshine to take a swim and stroll along the shore.
When the sun begins to set behind the horizon, we'll start our way up to Mount Chimera, also known as the Mount of the Eternal Fire, following a stone path. At the top of the mountain, the legendary Yanartas fires are burning continuously - quite the sight to behold at night.
Legend has it that the Lycian king Iobates begged Bellerophon to kill Chimera, a fire-breathing monster. With the help of Athena and the winged horse Pegasus, the hero imprisoned Chimera in the mountain, but its fire continued to burn for eternity.
A beautiful story, isn't it? Actually, what causes these eternal fires is the methane that accumulates within the mountain, whose gases escape through the fissures and create flames that never go out. Did you know that these fires also served as a lighthouse for sailors approaching the coast?
After this magical experience, we'll go to Ulupinar, where we'll enjoy a delicious dinner surrounded by trees and springs. The meal will consist of a main course accompanied by salad, and seasonal fruit for dessert.
Lastly, we'll return to Kemer, dropping you off at your hotel around 11.30 pm, ending the tour.
