Salinas del Gualicho Trip
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up in Las Grutas before heading to Salinas del Gualicho: the second largest depression in Argentina.
As soon as we arrive at these beautiful salt deposits we will be struck by their great dimensions. Located 236 feet below sea level, the salt flats cover an area of 166 square miles - twice the size of Buenos Aires! As we travel through this enormous space we will learn about some of the 8000 uses that salt has.
We will continue the tour by visiting the industrial area, where the salt crystals are harvested and packed. We will also see the salt piles, giant deposits that can accumulate up to 450,000 tons. After these visits, we will enjoy a stunning sunset over the Salinas del Gualicho, a sight you will never forget!
As we watch the sunset, we will be served delicious Creole dinner outdoors. The menu includes chicken with vegetables, bread, wine, mineral water, coffee, and a dessert. Afterward, when nighttime is upon us, we will take advantage of the darkness to observe the beautiful stars with telescopes and other astronomical instruments.
Eventually, we'll head back to Las Grutas, arriving back at the original starting point between 10 pm and midnight, depending on the time of year.
