Activity Details
At the designated time, we'll set off from the Monumento ao Calceteiro and make our way to Praça dos Restauradores, a square that commemorates the Portuguese who fought for the country's sovereignty in the 17th century. We'll take in the architectural richness of its surroundings and its lively atmosphere before heading to another of the capital's iconic squares, Praça Martim Moniz, where the vibrant multicultural energy is truly contagious.
No evening tour of Lisbon would be complete without a stop at one of its famous viewpoints, and we have 2 of the best on our route. At the Miradouro da Graça and the Miradouro de Santa Luzia, we'll soak up breathtaking panoramic views of the city in a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. From the first of these terraces, we'll also be able to spot the impressive Castelo de São Jorge, perched on the highest hill in central Lisbon and witness to centuries of history and fascinating legends.
We'll then wander through the streets of Alfama, one of Lisbon's most charming neighborhoods, discovering some of its most notable corners. These include the baroque Igreja de Santo António, considered a true place of pilgrimage, and the Casa dos Bicos, which now houses the legacy of Nobel Prize-winning author José Saramago.
Before wrapping up, we'll pause at the majestic Arco da Rua Augusta, a monumental triumphal arch that bridges the city's past and present and commemorates Lisbon's rebirth after the devastating earthquake of 1755. Just nearby, Praça do Município awaits for the final stop of our evening stroll, one of Lisbon's most beloved gathering spots, framed by the beautiful City Hall and other historic buildings.
After 2.5 hours exploring Lisbon by night, we'll say our goodbyes at Praça do Município.
