Day Trip Details
We'll meet at Praça dos Restauradores, number 24, where we'll start one of the most complete day trips to enjoy from Lisbon. Are you ready to see Fátima, Nazaré, Óbidos, and the Monastery of Batalha? Get ready to take loads of photos!
First, we'll travel for 1.5 hours toward Fátima, one of the most important pilgrimage centers in the world. Once we arrive, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to explore its sanctuary, a place of devotion for millions of pilgrims who arrive here yearly. As you walk, you can feel the incredible spiritual atmosphere of the complex, as you learn all about the apparition of the Virgin Mary to the three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta, in 1917.
Afterward, we'll head to the Monastery of Batalha, declared a World Heritage Site. We'll stop briefly in front of the late Gothic Manueline-style gem to admire its exterior architectural details.
Our next stop will be in Nazaré, a fishing town famous for its giant waves, just 30 minutes from Batalha. It's a paradise for surfers! We'll admire its stunning cliffs and the power of the waves by reaching the viewpoint of its lighthouse. You'll have approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes of free time to stroll and eat lunch at a restaurant.
Afterward, we'll set off to Óbidos, 30 minutes away. Once we arrive, we'll embark on a guided tour to learn all about this walled medieval town. Of course, we'll see the exterior of the Castle of Óbidos and you'll have 1 hour of free time to visit the town's artisanal stores.
Finally, we'll start our return to Lisbon, where we'll conclude this day trip at the meeting point 9 hours later.
Monastery of Batalha
The Monastery of Batalha has no admission fee. However, please note that we'll make a short stop of approximately 15 minutes.
