Welcome to Madrid's Zoo Aquarium! This 20-hectare park, located in the heart of the Casa de Campo, is much more than a traditional zoo, it's a space where conservation, education, and technological innovation are combined to offer a unique experience.
The park is home to more than 3,000 animals, ranging from mammals and birds to exotic fish. You’ll encounter iconic and endangered species, such as Iberian lynxes, red pandas, Asian rhinos, giant pandas, koalas, and gorillas. You’ll also get to meet Sela, a Bornean orangutan baby that is critically endangered. Currently, the little one is growing up healthy alongside her mother, Surya, and the rest of her family.
You’ll also discover treasures from the animal kingdom, such as giant tortoises, bald eagles, and Saharan gazelles. At 3 m (9.8 ft) high, you’ll admire the African prairie and encounter such iconic species as meerkats and Madagascar lemurs. You’ll then move on to another continent to discover the Americas. There, you’ll encounter such typical species as the Caribbean flamingo, the capuchin monkey, and the American bison. It's the most exotic area!
In Asia, the adorable giant pandas will welcome you, the Bactrian camel, and the binturong. Did you know it's also known as "the forest climber"? You'll also venture into the bear enclosure to get to know its inhabitants.
Next, you'll take a trip to Europe to see the European bison, moose, and boar. And you can't leave without seeing the Spanish imperial eagle and the tufted duck.
You can end your travels in Oceania, where you'll be welcomed by some of the star species of the Zoo Aquarium, such as the emus and the sand tiger shark. You'll discover the incredible biodiversity of this continent as you marvel at the range of indigenous species. In the aquarium zone, you'll also get to see seal lions, exotic fish, and turtles.
Additionally, during your visit, you'll be able to interact with IrenAI, the Zoo Aquarium's virtual assistant, which will provide information in real-time about each species and offer help during your time here.
