Naples Maradona Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Piazza Municipio, located right in the heart of the city. From here, we'll begin making our journey into the past. Over the course of this tour, we'll delve into the thousand-year history of this extraordinary city, exploring the most famous streets and landmarks which have borne witness to centuries of drama.
One of our first stops will be at the Galleria Umberto I, a building whose construction commenced in 1887. This magnificent structure is seen as the cornerstone of the so-called risanamento - a time during which Naples sought to reinvent itself, which lasted up until World War I. We'll also pass by the San Carlo Theatre, which is thought to be the oldest continuously active opera venue in the world, having been opened in 1737.
After seeing the beautiful Piazza Plebiscito, we'll begin our ascent to the Quartieri Spagnoli via the funicular railway steps. We'll walk through narrow, cobblestone streets, past majestic palaces and Baroque façades until we finally arrive at the mural of Diego Armando Maradona.
This touching mural was created as a tribute to the legendary Argentinian footballer, who left an indelible mark on SSC Napoli and the history of football as a whole. This mural embodies the passion, pride and gratitude which the city of Naples holds for the 'Pibe de Oro' (golden child) to this day.
After 2 hours of exploration, we'll conclude our tour.
