Want to visit the most famous crater in Campania? This self-guided day trip to Vesuvius includes transport to the National Park from Naples and an audio guide in English to explore the volcano at your own pace.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from Via Galileo Ferraris, 40. From this point, close to the Napoli Centrale Station, we'll set off by bus to the most famous volcanos in the south of Italy.
After a 40-minute drive, we'll arrive at the Vesuvius National Park. We'll drop you off at the foothills of the mountain, where the bus driver will show you how to download the audio guide in English on your phone, which will let you get to know the history of this volcano, whose eruption buried the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Next, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time on Vesuvius to visit it, alongside the audio guide's explanations. If you wish, you can also climb to the top of the volcano, 1281 metres (4202 feet) above sea level. Please note that the bus will drop you off at an altitude of 1000 metres (3280 feet), making the hike to the summit a 30-minute walk.
From the summit of Mount Vesuvius, you'll be able to see the fumaroles emitted from the crater. Additionally, we'll enjoy extraordinary scenic views of the Gulf of Naples, whose landscapes will be forever etched in your memories.
Lastly, we'll meet up again where the bus dropped you off and, from here, we'll begin our journey back to Naples. We'll arrive at our original meeting point after a total of 3 hours.
