On this day trip, we'll explore the coastal gems of Paita and Colán, and make a visit to a basilica declared a National Historic Monument.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel before making our way to the coastal town of Paita.
Upon arrival, we'll head to the port, where we'll go on a 20-minute cruise on a traditional boat, seeking out sea lions while also keeping an eye out for beautiful birds such as the blackish oystercatcher, brown pelican, and blue-footed booby.
Throughout the tour, you'll be able to sample some Peruvian chifles, a delicacy of Peru consisting of fried plantain! After, we'll head to Yacila Beach, a 0.5 kilometre (0.8 mile) stretch of Paita's fine sand beach, where you'll have the chance to take a well-earned dip!
We'll then travel to Colán to visit the church of San Lucas, a 16th-century basilica built on the ruins of a pre-Hispanic temple of Capullanas - the first chapel in the South Pacific!
At the end of the visit, you'll have 1 hour of free time to grab a bite to eat and relax at the Colán Beach Resort, a beautiful beach with emerald waters surrounded by palm trees. Be careful! You may spot some manta rays in this beautiful spot.
Finally, we'll make our way back to Piura, where we're expected to arrive at your hotel 8 hours and 20 minutes after pickup.
