Los Gigantes, Icod, Puerto de la Cruz & Candelaria Day Trip
Begin your day trip by boarding a comfortable air-conditioned coach and heading along the northwest coast of Tenerife.
The first stop of the tour is to the striking cliffs of Los Gigantes. These huge walls which plummet into the Atlantic Ocean sometimes measure over 600 meters high. In fact, the old local inhabitants of Tenerife called it the “Wall of Hell”.
Continue to the north of the island until you get to Icod de los Vinos. Here, you’ll discover its beautiful 800-year-old Dragon tree, one of the oldest trees in the Canary Islands. This autochthonous species measures nearly 18 meters high and is declared a “National Monument” in Spain.
We'll see the town of Garachico from a beautiful viewpoint and stop in Puerto de la Cruz, where we'll leave you free time to have lunch and stroll through the historic center and the promenade of this town.
In the afternoon, we'll set off to Candelaria. Situated on the eastern coastline, this city is named after the patron saint of the Canary Islands. You will visit the basilica with the same name: Basilica de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. This temple is one of the most important religious buildings in the archipelago. While you wander around the town, you'll learn about the history of the menceyes (kings) of Tenerife, depicted by various sculptures by the sea.
The tour comes to an end in Candelaria, where you'll be driven back to your hotel.
