Fonseca: One of the Best Wineries in Porto
The Fonseca winery is one of the main wine tourism centers in Vila Nova de Gaia, a beautiful town in Porto separated by the Douro River.
At the designated time, we'll begin this guided tour of the Fonseca winery by telling you the company's origins, which date back to the vineyards of the Quinta do Panascal. These fields are in the Douro Valley, one of the main wineg rowing areas in northern Portugal.
Then, we'll explore the different rooms in the winery to observe how Porto wines are crafted. You'll see the aging process and discover the sustainable wine-making techniques used today.
We'll conclude the tour of the winery with a tasting of 2 Fonseca wines, typical of Porto: Bin 27 and Siroco. You'll learn how to distinguish its notes of color, smell, and flavor, as well as its properties. Children will have a grape juice from the Douro Valley.
This Porto wine tasting will be accompanied by a fado show. The tones of the guitar, along with the singing, will create a very special atmosphere where you'll enjoy the emotions of this Portuguese traditional music to the fullest.
To wrap up this wine tourism experience, which will last a total of 4 hours, you'll enjoy a dinner at a terrace of the WOW restaurant (World of Wine), a complex annex to the Fonseca winery. The menu includes 3 dishes: a vegetable cream as a starter, sea bass as a main dish, and crème brûlée as dessert. Dinner also includes wine, mineral water, and coffee. It'll be the perfect way to end the day!
