Join us as we hike with llamas in Purmamarca and walk along the paths that surround this beautiful town accompanied by typical animals from the Andes. It'll be an unforgettable experience!
Hike with Llamas in Purmamarca
Our hike will begin in front of the Church of Purmamarca, where we'll meet at 3 pm. But we won't be alone! We'll be accompanied by a traditional Andean llama caravan.
During this unique experience, we'll be caravaneers for the day. We'll discuss the journeys made by the ancestors of Purmamarca's people, who travelled from the salt flats of the area to the valleys to exchange salt for corn. We'll also discover why both products were so important.
We'll travel across several low trails with the llamas and make stops along the way to learn about the landscape and the local culture. During our route, we'll also see a unique array of colourful hills - let's find out why they're so colourful!
As we hike through this area, we'll learn about its main endemic plants. Some of the most important ones are the molles, churquis, pencas and airampos, which also have fantastic medicinal and nutritional properties.
At 6 pm, we'll finish our hike back at the meeting point and say goodbye to the llamas that have accompanied us all day.
