More than 70 volcanoes line both sides of the Equator, forming the mythical Avenue of the Volcanoes. On this 2-day tour from Quito, we'll travel through this area of the Ecuadorian highlands and visit Quilotoa Volcano.
Avenue of the Volcanoes 2-Day Tour
Day 1
We'll leave Quito behind first thing in the morning and set off into the Ecuadorian highlands, crossing the country's biggest volcanic area. Aptly named the Avenida de los Volcanes - the Avenue of the Volcanoes - in 1802 by German scientist and explorer Alexander Von Humboldt, the 186-mile (300 km) corridor along the equator is home to over 70 volcanoes.
Our first stop will be Lasso for a rich breakfast. Then, we'll head to Tigua, where we'll visit an indigenous house to learn all about its traditions.
Continuing, we'll see the Toachi River Canyon before arriving in Quilotoa. When we reach the vicinity of the volcano, we'll hike to the lake located inside the crater, one of the most beautiful landscapes of the highlands!
After taking in the beauty of the Quilotoa lagoon and its volcano, we'll start on our journey to the hotel in Baños where we'll spend the night.
Day 2
After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we'll head to Mega Park Río Blanco, where you'll have free time to participate in some extreme sports, such as zip wiring or crossing the glass bridge, if you wish.
Then, we'll hike to the Agoyan Pailón del Diablo and Manto de la Novia waterfalls. Additionally, we'll visit the tree house and swim from Greenland. You'll have incredible views you'll never forget!
Finally, we'll head back to Quito. The tour ends back at the pickup hotels around 4 or 5 pm.
Accommodation
This tour includes one night's accommodation with breakfast at the Gala Hotel or similar.
