Tour Details
We'll meet at the parking lot of the "Ferruccio Barreca" Archeological Museum at the designated time to start this tour of Sant'Antioco and Calasetta. Are you ready?
Our tour will begin with Sant'Antioco, where we'll see the museum's archeological site from the outside. Here, you'll find the Roman Acropolis, along with the remains of an ancient temple and a hypogeum, which houses ancient Punic tombs.
Afterward, we'll head to the city center, where you'll see the exterior of the Forte Sabaudo Su Pisu, a 19th-century fortress that was the site for bloody battles, and the Church of Saint Antiochus Martyr, with Paleochristian origins. Did you know that the only Christian catacombs in Sardinia are found here? We'll tell you all about it as you admire the church's facade!
Next, we'll stop at the promenade so that you can grab a bite to eat at one of the area's restaurants. After lunch, we'll hop on board a vehicle and set off to Calasetta.
Upon arrival, we'll admire the Torre Sabauda. From this tower, you'll be able to enjoy a stunning view of the coast. Then, we'll reach the City Hall Square, where you'll find the Church of Saint Maurice Martyr and other Genovese-style constructions that characterize this town's center.
Before concluding our tour, we'll return to the vehicle to drive to the ancient Tonnara di Sant'Antioco and admire the famous Mangiabarche Lighthouse, built upon a rock. The views will leave you breathless!
Lastly, we'll return to Sant'Antioco, concluding the tour 7 hours later.
