On this day trip to Parque Tricao and Viña Undurraga, you’ll discover two of Chile’s gems in a single day. The lush nature of the park, with its impressive aviary and wetlands which resemble Monet's works, combines with the winemaking history of one of the country’s oldest wineries.
Day Trip Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at your selected starting point in Santiago. Once everyone is ready, we’ll board the bus that will take us southwest toward Parque Tricao, located about 2 hours away. Let’s get started!
Upon arrival, we’ll begin a 3-hour visit through this natural park, a sanctuary of more than 100 hectares of dense forest. We’ll enter one of the largest aviaries in South America, where more than 800 rescued birds fly among trees and ravines.
We’ll make our way through this area along hanging bridges and paths that lead us to the Giverny Wetland, a place that seems to evoke Monet’s famous gardens. Wild ducks, herons, and swans will accompany us on this walk, surrounded by native vegetation. We’ll also stop at its viewpoints and at the lagoon’s beach.
At midday, we’ll enjoy a brunch-style snack in the heart of nature before heading to Viña Undurraga, founded in 1885 and considered one of Chile’s pioneering wineries. During the visit, we’ll walk through its gardens and vineyards, learn about its history, and discover how tradition and technology combine in the production of its wines.
You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about Mapuche culture and worldview, the main Indigenous group of the country, through a small interpretive route within the winery. And to finish with a flourish, we’ll try four of its best wines.
Finally, we’ll begin the return trip to the initial meeting point in Santiago, where we’ll say goodbye after a total of 11 hours.
