On this day trip to Raposa, you'll explore mangroves, dunes, and the lagoons of Fronhas Maranhenses, a landscape shaped by the wind and tides. Don't forget your bathing suit!
Day Trip Details
After meeting at the designated time at Cais da Praia Grande in São Luís, we'll board a vehicle, and after 40 minutes, we'll reach the coastal town of Raposa. Ready to discover one of the best-kept secrets of Maranhão?
Once we reach Raposa, we'll enjoy a 3-hour boat ride. We'll sail along the tidal channels surrounded by vegetation, where plant species like the red mangrove and black mangrove grow. Did you know that mangroves act as natural plant nurseries, filtering sediment and protecting the coast from erosion?
During the journey, we'll make stops to walk on the dunes of Fronhas Maranhenses, sand formations shaped by the wind and tidal dynamics. During the rainy season, these depressions collect more water, creating lagoons. Here, we'll enjoy similar dunes to the Lençóis Maranhenses, although on a smaller scale.
We'll also stop on the island of Curupu and Praia Carimã, where you'll have free time to swim in its calm, shallow waters. After the boat ride, we'll return to dry land so you can enjoy tasting oysters at your own pace.
Then, we'll enjoy a short panoramic tour of Raposa, including the Avenida de las Rendeiras, known for its artisanal bobbin lace production.
Finally, we'll start our journey back to the initial meeting point, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 5 hours.
