From a Greek theatre to a medieval city with Aragonese influences, on our day trip to Marsala, Erice and Segesta you'll see it all! You'll explore monuments from different historic periods and delve into Sicily's fascinating past.
Once we've picked you up at 8:15 am from your chosen meeting point, we'll hop into our minibus and set off for the Segesta Archaeological Park. The drive to this ancient Greek city from Sciacca will take 1 hour 30 minutes.
When we get there, you'll have 1 hour 30 minutes of free time to visit Segesta. Even though the city was destroyed in 306 BC, some of its most important buildings are still standing today, such as its Doric temple. You can also walk to the Greek theatre and admire fantastic panoramic views of the Sicilian coastline and the Mediterranean from its steps.
We'll reconvene and hop back on the minibus to drive to Erice, a charming medieval town located on the top of San Giuliano Hill. Here you'll have 2 hours 30 minutes to wander the streets at your leisure.
Cobbled streets, medieval arches, decorated courtyards and small traditional shops give Erice its unique charm. During your visit, we recommend heading to the Norman Castle of Venus and the Cathedral, a 14th-century building constructed during the reign of Frederick III of Aragon.
Next, we'll head to Marsala. We'll first make a brief stop at its salt flats, which are full of salt mountains and mills that you'll love.
Afterwards, we'll take you to the historic centre of Marsala so you can spend 1 hour exploring it at your own pace. Garibaldi Gate, the Spanish barracks, the Mother Church, the town hall, the market and even more incredible places await.
The day trip will then come to an end as we take you back to the starting point at 6 pm.
