Explore the past of one of Peru's most historic cities with this complete tour of Tacna – you won't miss a thing!
Complete Tacna Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Tacna at 9 am to start this complete tour where we'll talk about the most important events in the history of Peru.
The first part of the tour will be dedicated to learning about the chronology of Tacna's war, visiting the scenarios where historical moments took place: the Municipal Theater, a former field hospital; the Casa de la Jurídica, where the surrender of the city to Peru was signed by Chile; and the house of the independence leader Francisco Antonio de Zela.
The next stop will be at Campo de la Alianza, where the Peruvian and Chilean armies fought for control of the city. There, we'll visit the Museum of Arms, where we can see some of the artifacts that were used in the battle, and the cemetery.
Then, we'll go on a panoramic tour of the main monuments of Tacna, such as the cathedral, the fountain of the Greek Gods, and the Parabolic Arch, which was erected in homage to the heroes of the War of the Pacific.
On the panoramic tour, we'll also pass by Bolognesi Avenue, the Botanical Garden, and the commercial area. Then, we'll go to the countryside of Tacna for a tasting at a pisco distillery!
Afterwards, we'll go to a family ranch where we'll taste a pastel de choclo (corn pie). Once we've regained our strength with this snack, we'll visit the Miculla petroglyphs to try to decipher the meaning of these enigmatic zoomorphic engravings.
Following the petroglyphs, we'll cross the famous suspension bridge of Miculla to reach the thermal baths of Calientes, where you'll have time to bathe in the natural pools there.
We'll conclude the tour by dropping you off back at your hotel at 5 pm.
