Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tafí del Valle to begin this day trip through the beautiful landscapes of the north of the Tucumán Province and the south of Salta. An unforgettable route awaits!
We'll leave the city behind, and after just over 30 minutes, we'll reach El Infiernillo, a mountain pass that will allow us to appreciate the immensity of Amaicha del Valle. There, at more than 3,000 m (9,842 ft) above sea level, we'll see how this place marks the border between the green highlands and the rough Calchaquí Valley. You'll have about half an hour free to observe the tapestry of brown and emerald colours, and to take the first photos of the day.
Afterwards, we'll continue north along the National Route 40 to get to Cafayate, a 1.5-hour journey away. As soon as we arrive, we'll explore this charming town that combines serenity and history. We'll pass by its main square and through its narrow streets adorned with colonial architecture and small traditional shops. During the almost 2-hour visit, we'll also recommend where you can grab some lunch.
Having refuelled, we'll get back in the vehicle and head to the Quebrada de las Conchas, where we'll arrive after just 25 minutes. For 2 hours, we'll take a tour stopping at every geological whim, such as the Garganta del Diablo, which narrows into a geological crack with intense brown and reddish colours.
We'll admire the Amphitheatre, with its perfect acoustics and, further on, formations as peculiar as their names will emerge: El Fraile, La Yesera, El Obelisco, Las Venatanas and El Sapo. The bands of calcareous sand will provide us with scenes that we can marvel at, reflect on or simply stand in silence before in awe of their overwhelming beauty. Did you know that marine fossils were found in the Quebrada de las Conchas?
After this visit, we'll get back on the road to Tafí del Valle, where we'll say our goodbyes, dropping you off at your hotel after a total of 9 hours.
