Din Tai Fung, Taiwan's Most Famous Dumpling Restaurant
Ready for a dining experience that will exceed all your expectations? With this dinner at the Din Tai Fung restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan's most popular culinary establishment, you can savour traditional Taiwanese haute cuisine at very affordable prices.
Din Tai Fung first opened its doors in 1958 as a cooking oil shop, and was founded by Bing-Yi Yang and his wife, Pen-Mei Lai. In 1972, as the oil business declined, the couple decided to convert half of the shop into a restaurant and began selling xiaolongbao. The popularity of their dumplings was such that the restaurant has come to be recognised by The New York Times as one of the 10 best restaurants in the world.
Due to its fame, moreover, the restaurant quickly became a chain and has opened branches in numerous countries, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. However, it still retains the essence of the original restaurant in Taipei, where it began its successful career.
