On this tour to Chacamarca Historic Sanctuary, Lake Junín and Ondores we'll explore the attractions in Junín and visit San Pedro de Pari.
Description
At the time indicated, we'll meet in Plaza de Armas in Tarma and start a tour around the main sights in the Junín province.
First, we'll head north to visit the Chacamarca Historic Sanctuary. Before arriving, we'll make a stop at the Camino Inca viewpoint to admire the extensive fields of flowers. After a drive of approximately one hour, we'll reach our destination where we'll learn about the Battle of Junín and its importance in Peru's independence.
We'll travel through time to discover the origin of the monument, erected in honour of the heroes fallen in battle. Additionally, we'll visit the Chacamarca Historic Sanctuary museum.
From here, we'll head towards the small town of Junín to visit their Plaza de Armas, home to the monument of General Simón Bolívar. Our next stop will be the town of Ondores, where we'll have a guided tour of its sights of interest.
Ondores' colonial Church will unarguably be the highlight of the tour. Did you know that this temple is considered an authentic colonial jewel? Its valuable altarpieces, stone tower, bell tower and history will leave you totally in love with it. Then, we'll leave the town bordering Lake Junín, one of the largest in Peru, and go to San Pedro de Pari.
Here we'll discover the colonial Church of Pari, located on the shores of the lake and where we'll have incredible views. We'll also learn all about its structure and design. Finally, we'll explore other attractions in San Pedro de Pari, such as la Cabeza del Inca, La Momia, San Jerónimo and the Tres Reyes Magos.
Finally, we'll return to Tarma and finish our tour after seven hours.
