If you're visiting Vienna during the festive season, you can’t miss a stop at Schönbrunn Palace. It is the home to one of the city's most beautiful Christmas markets. The Schönbrunn Christmas market, located just outside the palace, opens at 10 am. From that moment on, you'll have the opportunity to soak up its enchanting atmosphere as you wander among stalls filled with handcrafted items and traditional treats. With the voucher included in your ticket, you can enjoy a hot drink and a meal of your choice. Fancy trying some mulled wine? Or perhaps a cinnamon pastry?
After enjoying the market, it's time to visit one of Vienna's most iconic landmarks: Schönbrunn Palace. At 7 pm, once the monument has closed to the general public, you’ll step inside to uncover the secrets of the Viennese Versailles.
Before starting, you'll receive an audio guide in English so you can explore all the rooms of the former summer residence of the Habsburgs–full of luxury and opulence, worthy of the splendor of the era. Did you know that it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site?
Schönbrunn features more than 20 Rococo-style rooms, including highlights such as the Blue Chinese Salon, the Great Gallery, and the Breakfast Chamber. Can you imagine what Empress Sisi’s life was like here?
To cap off the day, at 8:30 pm, you'll head to the Orangery inside Schönbrunn Palace to attend a special Christmas classical music concert. During the 2-hour performance, you'll hear some of Mozart and Strauss' most iconic compositions in a hall specially decorated for the festive season.
