Discover pre-Incan burial sites at the Quiocta Caves and the Karajia Sarcophagi on this day trip from Chachapoyas that even includes lunch!
Cavernas de Quiocta & Sarcofagos de Karajia Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel at the indicated time and leave Chachapoyas behind as we head northeast to Lamud. We'll pass through the villages of Cochechan and Cruz Pata, and from here we'll set off on a 30-minute walk to the Karajia Sarcophagi.
This fascinating site houses pre-Incan sculptures which contain the mummified remains of people dating back to the 15th century. Their location on a cliff has kept the sarcophagi safe from the harsh weather, leaving them preserved.
At midday, we'll stop for a delicious lunch in Lamud, consisting of a starter, main course and drink. With our batteries recharged, we'll head to our next destination.
We'll venture through the Peruvian jungle to discover the Quiocta Caves. Inside these natural caverns, we'll marvel at the stalactites and stalagmites that hang from the ceilings. As we explore the caves, we'll get to see archaeological remains of pre-Incan burial sites and cave paintings from the Chachapoyan civilization.
After a day discovering the cultural heritage of the Chachapoyas, we'll take you back to the hotels in Chachapoyas. We'll finish the tour 10.5 hours after pickup.
