Visit the Leshan Giant Buddha and the Chengdu Panda Base on the same day. This tour allows you to enjoy a World Heritage Site as well as adorable pandas!
Leshan Giant Buddha & Chengdu Panda Base
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu at the designated time and head to the Chengdu Panda Base on a 30-minute road trip.
Upon arrival, we'll spend about 2 hours strolling through the different rooms of the reserve. We'll see young and adult pandas and learn many interesting facts about these adorable animals. Do you know how much they can weigh or why they are an endangered species? You'll love watching the pandas play among themselves, sleep, and eat bamboo!
Continuing our journey, we'll return to the bus and set off on a 2-hour drive to the Leshan Giant Buddha. Here, you can choose to take a boat ride for a stunning view of this massive statue or go on a hike to the highest point, getting up close to the Buddha. The choice is yours!
Admiring this magnificent 232-foot (71-meter) sculpture is breathtaking from every angle! Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Leshan Giant Buddha was built on a cliff in the 8th century as a barrier to control the river's flow, as the confluence of three rivers with turbulent waters made navigation difficult. On this day trip, you'll find out whether the Buddha fulfilled its mission! Not only will we see this colossal sculpture, but we'll also have the chance to marvel at tombs, temples, and other shapes carved in stone.
We'll conclude the activity by heading to a restaurant in the area, where you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy a typical lunch if you wish. Afterward, we'll begin our journey back to Chengdu and drop you off at your hotel to wrap up this 10-hour day trip.
