Inca Jungle 3 or 4-Day Trek
When making your booking, you'll be able to choose a 3 or 4-day trek. For both activities, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at the scheduled time:
3-Day Tour
Day 1: Cusco - Santa María - Santa Teresa
At 6 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and set off on our bus to the famous Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the way, we'll pass by Chinchero, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo where, after making a brief stop, we'll head to the Puerto de Málaga. Once we've reached this point, which towers at an altitude of almost 14,300 feet (4,350 metres), we'll embark on a 3-hour bike tour to the village of Santa María.
After lunch, those who wish to do so can go rafting on the Vilcanota River. Afterwards, we'll continue on to Santa Teresa, where we'll spend the night in local accommodation.
Day 2: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes
After breakfast with a good "valley coffee", we'll enjoy a zipline circuit. We'll then take a 3-hour walk to the village of Hidroeléctrica, where we'll have lunch. Afterwards, we'll continue for another 3 hours along the train tracks, observing the flora and fauna found in this area.
At around 5 pm, we'll arrive at a lodge in the village of Aguas Calientes, where we'll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel in Aguas Calientes, and according to the schedule of the entrances, we'll make our way to Machu Picchu. You'll also have the option of taking the bus to get to the access gate of Machu Picchu.
If you bought your ticket to Huayna Picchu in advance, you'll be able to climb this mountain. We'll then take a 2-hour tour of the Machu Picchu Archaeological Site.
Finally, we'll return to Aguas Calientes where you'll be able to have lunch on your own. We'll then take the train or the bus, depending on your booking, to Ollantaytambo. From there, we'll take you back to Regocijo Square in Cusco by bus. We should arrive back here in the late afternoon. Arrival will be according to the entrance time to Machu Picchu and according to the train ticket from Machu Picchu to Ollantaytambo.
4-Day Tour
Day 1: Cusco - Santa María
At 6 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Cusco and depart by bus to the Malaga Pass. From there, we'll take a 3-hour bike tour to the village of Santa María. Along the way, we'll observe Andean and jungle ecosystems.
Once there, we'll take you to the accommodation where we'll spend the night. Those who wish to do so can go rafting on the Vilcanota River in the afternoon. Otherwise, you'll be free to rest. See you tomorrow!
Day 2: Santa María - Santa Teresa
After a hearty breakfast at the Santa María hostel, we'll set off on a hike along authentic Inca trails, crossing the high jungle with its plantations of tropical fruits, coca and coffee.
We'll then have lunch in a local family home before heading to the Cocalmayo open-air hot spring pools. After a relaxing dip, we'll go to the village of Santa Teresa to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes
We'll have breakfast at our accommodation in Santa Teresa, and you'll have free time if you want to go ziplining. Afterwards, we'll set off on a hike of approximately 3 hours to the village of Hidroeléctrica for lunch.
After lunch, we'll hike for 2 hours to Aguas Calientes, where we'll head to a local hotel for dinner and rest until the next day.
Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu
Depending on our entry time at Machu Picchu, we'll begin an approximately 2.5-hour uphill hike that will take us to Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas.
When we reach Machu Picchu, we'll take a 2.5-hour guided tour around its magnificent archaeological site. You'll then have the rest of the morning free to visit Huayna Picchu, the Temple of the Moon and other sites in the area on your own.
In the afternoon, we'll return by train to Ollantaytambo and from there, we'll board a bus to return to the city of Cusco.
Accommodation
This tour includes 2 or 3 nights of accommodation in the following lodges or hostels:
- Santa Teresa: Hostal Kuychi or similar
- Santa María: Hostal Vicma or similar
- Aguas Calientes: Hostal Samuel House, Mosoq inti, Hatun wasy, or similar
