Join us for a cooking class in Fez to learn tips and tricks about ingredients used to make authentic Moroccan dishes. Ready to step into the kitchen? Yes, chef!
Activity Options
When making your booking, you can choose between two options. Both start at the Palais Bab Sahra Fez restaurant and include an English-speaking guide, ingredients for the cooking class, the meal prepared, coffee and tea.
Cooking Class (1 Hour)
Once ready, we'll choose between three classic tagines. The options will be lemon chicken tagine, chicken with vegetables, or vegetables only. Each one has its own special and authentic touch. Let's get started!
We'll begin by placing the ingredients in the tagine and putting it on low heat. As the aroma begins to fill the room, we'll learn how to prepare traditional tea, a symbol of Moroccan hospitality.
After finishing the lesson, we'll go up to the roof to enjoy tea accompanied by traditional pastries while admiring the medina of Fez, one of the oldest in the Islamic world. Afterwards, we'll return to savour our own tagine.
- Schedule: this option runs at 12:30 pm and at 6:30 pm
Cooking Class & Souk Visit (4 Hours)
Our first step will be to collect the right ingredients. For our recipe, we'll need fresh produce, for which we'll head to a local souk, right in the heart of Fez's medina. At the food stall, we'll pick out the freshest ingredients, from meats and veggies to fruits and spices.
With our groceries in hand, it's back to the restaurant for some serious cooking. Aprons on, folks! During the class, we'll learn how to prepare different variations of the classic tajin dish, a staple of Moroccan cuisine. From chicken and olives to meat and plums, even to using a different kind of couscous! And, of course, we'll wash it all down with a freshly brewed cup of Moroccan tea—which, by the way, we'll master the art of making, too!
Once everything has been prepared, we'll sit down for a well-deserved meal! Alongside a fresh salad and seasonal fruit, count on one of the best meals you'll have while in Morocco—the one you cooked yourself!
- Schedule: this option runs at 12:30 pm, 4:30 pm and at 6:30 pm
