Immerse yourself in nature on this tour of the Vezzeno Gorge. You'll discover leafy trails, ancient fossils, and a museum dedicated to roses!
Vezzeno Gorge Tour
At the selected time, we'll meet at the entrance of Gropparello Castle, the starting point of a nature trail that will lead us to the Vezzeno Gorge, an incredible canyon formed by a stream of the same name.
We'll walk along the ancient patrol paths, which lead from the fortified walls of the castle to the bottom of the cliff, where the Vezzeno stream flows. During the walk, the guide will tell us about the peculiarities of this unique territory, characterized by the dark mass of ophiolite, which gives the landscape a rather gloomy aspect.
In this wooded area, we'll also find the Museo della Rosa Nascente (Museum of the Rising Rose), a natural space that hosts no less than 17 rose gardens. During the visit to this rose haven, we'll have the opportunity to discover the magical link that unites the different species that make up the varied local flora, such as white privets, maritime pines or imperial maples.
Afterward, we'll make our way to the Limonaia, where the Sala dei Fossili (Fossil Room) is located, a showcase displaying the fossilized remains of animals and vegetables found in this area. They date back to the Upper Jurassic period!
Following an hour and a half of soaking up nature, we'll say goodbye to our guide and conclude this guided tour of the Vezzeno Gorge.
