Ready for an ascent to the towering peaks of the Andes Mountains? At the scheduled time, we'll meet up at Huamanmarca Park. Once assembled, we'll embark on a minibus journey to Estancia Huaytapallana, the starting point for our hike across the Huaytapallana snow-capped mountain. Let the adventure begin!
Before setting off on the trek, we'll provide a break for you to refuel with breakfast at the estancia. Energized and ready, we'll set off on the hike toward the snowy summit of Huaytapallana, one of the most captivating natural wonders in Huancayo.
During the approximately 3-hour ascent, we'll unveil the mysteries of this Andean mountain. Did you know that "Huaytapallana" translates to "where the flowers are gathered"? As we progress, the significance of its name will become evident.
Our route will lead us through the Enchanted Lakes, a cluster of lakes including Carhuacocha, Cocha Grande, and Yanaucsha. Time for some breathtaking photos!
A significant moment in the hike will be the midpoint, where we'll perform a ceremonial offering to Pachamama using coca leaves. Our knowledgeable local guides will elaborate on this ancient Peruvian tradition.
Finally, we'll reach the pinnacle of the route, situated 500 meters (1,640 feet) before Huaytapallana's slopes at an elevation of 4,950 meters (16,240 feet) above sea level. As a reward, we'll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the glacier and Mantaro Valley.
To conclude the trip, we'll descend along the Abra Yanauchsa route for about 1.5 hours until we return to Estancia Huaytapallana. Here, you can opt for lunch on your own, surely satisfying any post-trek hunger!
