Huánuco City Tour
You'll be picked up from your accommodation at the time of your choice to begin this tour of Huanuco. Did you know that it's also known as the city of the Knights of León? This name is due to its foundation by the commander Gómez de Alvarado y Contreras, brother of the famous conqueror Pedro de Alvarado.
We'll visit the main points of interest of Huanuco, such as the main square, and walk among its numerous temples and religious buildings such as the cathedral, the church of San Sebastian, patron saint of shoemakers, and the churches of San Cristobal and San Francisco, both from the 16th century. We'll also pass by the mausoleum of Daniel Alomía Robles, the world-famous melody El cóndor pasa (The Condor Passes By), composed by this great Peruvian musician. We'll continue to visit some of the most emblematic monuments, such as the Calicanto bridge or the granite fountain, a fountain more than 100 years old. Afterwards, we'll pass by the picturesque park of Santo Domingo and its "tree of love" and we'll see the house of Leoncio Prado Gutierrez, a military man from Huanuco who fought in the guerrilla war against the Spanish in Cuba and the Philippines.
The last stop of the tour will be in front of the monument dedicated to the "Negritos de Huanuco", a popular local dance linked to the Christmas and Easter festivities.
Finally, after 3 hours of exploring the treasures of Huanuco, we'll conclude the tour and take you back to your accommodation.
