At the appointed time, we’ll meet at Kanazawa Station and board a bus for a scenic journey to the historic village of Shirakawago. During this 1-hour ride, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking landscapes of the Japanese Alps—so be sure to have your camera ready!
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the enchanting sight of traditional Gassho-zukuri houses, with their steep thatched roofs designed to withstand heavy snowfall. As we wander through the village’s charming, history-filled streets, you’ll quickly understand why it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Immerse yourself in the local culture, and if you’d like, indulge in regional delicacies such as Hida beef or Doburoku ice cream—simply delicious!
After exploring Shirakawago, we’ll return to Kanazawa. We'll end our tour in front of the Kenrokuen Garden, where you will not have an admission ticket included.
In this case, first we'll go on the tour of Shirakawago described in the previous option. Once we return to Kanazawa, you'll have included a ticket to the Kenrokuen Garden, considered one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens. Here, you’ll lose yourself in a harmonious landscape of meticulously designed vegetation, tea houses, bridges, and hidden corners that feel like they belong in a postcard.
Next, we’ll experience Kanazawa’s rich artistic heritage with a visit to a local artisan. Depending on availability, we’ll either witness the intricate craft of Daruma painting on figures or discover the delicate art of making traditional Japanese sweets—an unforgettable hands-on experience!
To round off the day, we’ll explore the Higashi Chaya district, a beautifully preserved entertainment quarter in Kanazawa where the art of geisha culture still lingers. Here, we’ll also discover one of Kanazawa’s most famous creations—gold leaf postcards, a truly unique souvenir.
After 8.5 hours of exploration and cultural immersion, we’ll return to our starting point, bringing an end to an unforgettable day in Kanazawa.
