On this excursion from La Rioja we'll discover out-of-this-world landscapes in Ischigualasto and Talampaya, two famous parks in Argentina.
Tour Details
You'll begin the day leaving from La Rioja, where you'll head to Ischigualasto Park, also known as Valley of the Moon Park.
Ischigualasto Park offers landscapes that are out of this world with deep seas of grey rock and water-eroded valleys. What better way to discover more of this natural landscape, located in the San Juan province, than a walking tour and bus ride highlighting the best parts of the park.
Over 4 hours, you'll see impressive geological formations, also most visited sites, throughout Ischigualasto Park—some of them with interesting names like the submarine, the worm, or the mushroom. You'll make a few pit stops at several looking points to get the best view of the Valle Pintado and Cancha de Bochas. The Cancha de Bochas offers an especially curious landscape, full of perfectly round grey rocks. Talk about a lunar landing!
You'll enjoy lunch in the park, so don't forget your picnic basket. After lunch, you'll return to La Rioja to see Talampaya National Park. Once you've arrived, you'll hop on a bus for a tour of this impressive World Heritage Site.
Continuing on the tour of Talampaya, you'll see the immense rock walls the park has to offer, a complete natural wonder. You'll also learn about some of the curious geological history of the park as well.
After the bus tour of Talampaya, you'll catch another bus back to La Rioja returning to your hotel at 8 pm.
