Interested in learning about mycology? With this activity, you'll visit a farm on the outskirts of Mahón where Menorcan mushrooms are harvested and enjoy a tasting of boletus mushrooms.
We'll meet at Bolets de Menorca, a popular mushroom farm 10 minutes from Mahón, the capital of the island. The tour of this farm has been cataloged as one of the best agricultural experiences in Spain by Segittur, an organization of Spain's Ministry of Tourism and Industry.
We'll begin the activity with an introduction to mycology, where you'll see different videos and images to discover the fascinating world of fungi. How are they produced in nature? Which is the easiest way to distinguish them? We'll answer these questions and more on this tour!
Then, we'll embark on a guided tour of the farm's facilities, where we'll see the lab, the workroom, and the indoor forest where the fungi grow. During the tour, you'll also learn interesting facts about mushroom harvesting.
We'll conclude this activity, which will last a total of 2 hours, by enjoying a tasting of a dish made with boletus mushrooms from Menorca. You'll get to choose whether to have this dish with mineral water or a soft drink. What a perfect way to end this activity!
