On this exciting nighttime alligator-watching experience, you'll sail along the igarapés of the Rio Negro and see these reptiles up close. Ready to explore the Amazons at night?
Tour Details
Our nocturnal adventure in the heart of the Amazons will begin by picking you up at your hotel in Manaus at the designated time. From there, we'll head to the shores of Rio Negro, where we'll embark on a speedboat that will take us to the igarapés, the creeks that wind among the dense Amazonian vegetation.
As the sunlight disappears, we'll enter the immensity of the dark waters in an isolated and silent environment. During the sail, we'll be accompanied by the sound of the nocturnal birds singing, the water splashing, and the branches crunching. It'll then be time to start searching for alligators!
Keep your eyes peeled—before you know it, two small red eyes will appear from the water. This is the sign that you've found your first alligator. You'll learn why their eyes shine so brightly and how this helps them have excellent night vision.
With agile and precise movements, the guide will try to take a young alligator for a bit to show us its characteristics before returning it gently to its habitat without causing any harm. On this experience, you'll learn fascinating facts about these reptiles, who can stay still for long periods.
If you're lucky, you'll also spot other wild animals of the Rio Negro, such as owls or kingfishers, and even other mammals that roam the jungle shore. The Amazons at night is amazing!
Finally, we'll return to Manaus and drop you off at your hotel after 6 hours.
