Discover beautiful landscapes and a spectacular gorge located in the department of Hérault with this Cirque de Navacelles Day Trip from Montpellier.
Cirque de Navacelles Day Trip
We'll meet at 9 am at the Mosson tram station and board a minibus to Hérault, one of the most beautiful departments of the Occitania region, and the Larza plateau in particular.
Our first stop will be at the foot of Mont Saint-Baudille, where we'll begin to appreciate the natural beauty of the South of France. After enjoying these landscapes, the route will continue towards the Cirque de Navacelles gorge, the jewel of the region. This is a type of crater with cliffs standing at an impressive 984 ft (300 m) tall! We'll go to the Baume d'Auriol or Blandas viewpoint, depending on the number of people, to admire the narrow gorge from close up.
As we approach the cirque, we'll also see the picturesque village of Navacelles, whose houses will seem like a fairytale. Most of the buildings are built on the rock itself, right on the banks of the waterfalls of the river Vis. It's without a doubt a picture-postcard image that will remain forever etched in your memory!
We'll have a break in the area so that you can have lunch on your own in this beautiful setting, which is highlighted by the murmur of the waterfalls of the river. We recommend bringing your own picnic-style lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll then take a short walk along the banks of the Vis to see the well-known mills of La Foux, which are located very close to the village of Vissec.
Finally, after a short stop to see the scenic views of the Gardois, at 4 pm we'll return to the starting point in Montpellier.
