We enjoyed our tour of Old Town Porto with Natalia. Learning about the wall that used to surround Porto and how parts of it were taken down (or incorporated into present buildings) over time was very interesting.
We enjoyed our tour with Pedro through Vila Nova de Gaia. He was very adept at conveying the history of the area through stories about different people and places, and injected humor into them to keep the tour fun. We feel that we left the tour with a much better understanding and appreciation of the area than we would have had exploring it on our own.
Joana really made the city come to life for us. Her in-depth knowledge of Portuguese history coupled with her ability to explain it in a way that made events over time come together (as we were standing in front of relevant buildings/monuments) drew us into the stories. We left with a good sense of what life was like in Braga not only in the present day, but also over the last 10 centuries. We truly appreciated the time spent with her and would recommend her tour wholeheartedly.
