Sail along the course of the famous boiling river Mayantuyacu and learn all about the indigenous people living along its banks with this day trip from Puerto Inca.
Mayantuyacu River Day Trip
At 5:30 am, we'll meet at the Hospedaje Los Incas in Puerto Inca to take the bus that'll take us to the Mayantuyacu River, also known as the Boiling River.
After a five-hour drive, we'll get off the vehicle and board a boat to sail the turquoise waters of the Mayantuyacu River. Did you know that its temperature can reach up to 93ºC (194ºF)? Now its moniker makes so much sense, right?
We'll learn about the mystical stories of this famous Peruvian river, considered a sacred place by the indigenous people due to the healing power of its waters and because for them, it's their source of water supply. Next, we'll continue downriver and dock on one of its banks to visit the Mayantuyacu indigenous community. Here we'll meet their shaman, who will teach us about some of their ancestral rituals.
At 12:30 pm, we'll enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by the villagers. After lunch, we'll walk along the banks of the river while we learn the reason behind the boiling waters of the Mayantuyacu River - it'll definitely be a surprise for you!
Lastly, we'll return to Puerto Inca, arriving at around 7 pm.
